Maysville splits a series with Coshocton while battling through their season

Vs. Coshocton (4/28, 4/30)

The Panthers traveled to Coshocton on Monday to face the Redskins.  The first two innings of the game went scoreless for both teams, with Coshocton being the first team to light the scoreboard with two runs from Shaw and Wood in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 2 – 0 lead. The Panthers came back in the top of the 6th to grab a run on a double from Trevor Hague to bring in Jake Deal. Kolton Gifford hit a sacrifice fly to the pitcher, allowing Hague to score, tying up the game at 2.  Coshocton answered back in the bottom of the inning with a single from Dickerson that brought home Shaw for the go-ahead run that ultimately won them the 3 – 2 game.


Coshocton came to Maysville on Wednesday to finish the two-game series against the Panthers.  The Redskins grabbed two runs on a double from Dickerson to take the 2 – 0 lead. Slade Shreve singled in the bottom of the inning, allowing Bryce Fisher and Gifford to score, tying the game at 2. Kale Riley doubled in the bottom of the fourth inning to jump out ahead of Coshocton with a 3 – 2 lead.  The Redskins tied the game up in the top of the 5th with a third run. Hague doubled in the bottom of the inning to bring in Fisher. Gifford scored on a wild pitch, and Ryan Parmer drove in Hague with a line drive. Riley scored the final run on a fly ball hit by Paiton Kimble to take a 7 – 3 lead.  Coshocton picked up a final run in the top of the 7th inning, but they could not recover, and Maysville split the series with a 7 – 4 win.

Vs. Union Local (4/25)

Maysville hosted the Union Local Jets on Friday.  Right out of the gate, the Jets took a 2 – 0 lead in the top of the first inning. They continued to run the game, grabbing three more runs in the top of the 2nd inning. Maysville answered back with a run by Riley off a single hit by Kade Fusner, but they finished the inning down 5 – 1. A triple and a single at the top of the 3rd put the Jets up 8 – 1. Parmer grounded out in the bottom of the 3rd to bring Fisher in to trail 8 – 2. The Jets took another run in the top of the 4th to lead 9 – 2. In the top of the 6th inning, a sacrifice fly from Carpenter made the lead 10 – 2.  Maysville pulled together a five-run rally in the bottom of the 6th inning to only trail by three at 10 – 7. Another run from Union Local sealed the fate of the game, and the Panthers lost 11 – 7.
