Vs. Maysville (5/10)
When the Bishops met up with the Panthers at Gant Stadium in Downtown Zanesville, it was a sunny Saturday morning. Hayden Perdue lit the scoreboard first with a single to center field, bringing in Coen Grandstaff for the 1 – 0 lead. Haiden Omen sacrificed a fly ball to bring home Nick Bernath to take a 2 – 0 advantage. Maysville’s Fisher scored on a passed ball in the top of the 5th inning to cut the Bishops’ lead in half at 2 – 1. In the top of the 7th inning, Maysville stripped the lead away with a double by Riley to bring home B. Fisher, and K. Fisher to tie the game and take the go-ahead run at 3 – 2. Butcher followed it up with a ground ball single to score Riley for the 4 – 2 victory over the Bishops.
Vs. Fairfield Christian Academy (5/9)
On Friday, Historic Gant Stadium in Zanesville hosted the matchup between Bishop Rosecrans and Fairfield Christian Academy. For the first three innings of the game, nothing was happening as the offense on both sides stalled until the bottom of the 4th inning when Jacobie Balo scored on an error, followed by Perdue scoring on an error to take the 2 – 0 lead. Fairfield was unable to recover, and the Bishops got the win.
Vs. Harvest Prep (5/7)
Wednesday afternoon, the Bishops headed to Canal Winchester to play Harvest Prep. Rosecrans dominated from the start of the game, scoring two runs in the top of the 1st when Bernath and Balo both came across home plate on an error play, taking a quick 2 – 0 lead. Perdue then scored on a wild pitch, and Omen scored on a wild pitch. Jordan Bonifield scored on a single from Kohen Harris, pushing the lead up to 5 – 0. Harris and Titan Grandstaff scored on a single by Coen Grandstaff to lead the game 7 – 0 after one inning. In the top of the 2nd inning, Perdue doubled on a fly to right field. Perdue hit a double to right field to allow Balo to score. Perdue then scored on a wild pitch. Omen scored on a single from Harris to bring the score to an even 10 – 0 to end the 2nd inning. Omen singled in the top of the 3rd inning to score Bernath. Balo scored on a hit by Bonifield. Perdue scored due to a walk, Omen scored on a hit from Titan Grandstaff, and Bonifield scored on a hit by Coen Grandstaff to end the 3rd, up 15 – 0. The top of the 4th inning had Pratt scoring on a walk, followed by Harney scoring on a walk as well, to lead 17 – 0. Balo scored the last run for the game in the top of the 5th on a ground out to take home an 18 – 0 win.
Vs. Beallsville (5/1)
The Blue Devils came to Zanesville on Thursday to play Bishop Rosecrans. From the mound, Coen Grandstaff struck out the first three batters, allowing the Bishops’ own batting lineup to take over with three runs in the first inning, followed by a single run in the bottom of the 2nd inning, four runs in the bottom of the 3rd, and two final runs in the bottom of the 5th inning all while shutting out the Blue Devils offense to take the 10 – 0 win.
