Lady Dawgs powerhouse pitcher signs letter of intent to play softball with Youngstown State University

Paiton Murphy has been a standout on the mound and in the batter’s box for Tri-Valley for some time, and she is taking the next step to continue her softball career at Youngstown State University, an NCAA D-1 school.  In her previous season with Tri-Valley, Paiton had a 22- 7 record in OHSAA Division I. She helped guide her team to a Sectional Title and was instrumental in helping the team achieve the District Runner-Up Title. Paiton boasts a 2.18 ERA for the current season with 13 wins and four losses. Murphy has had nine home runs this season, with six from last season, 30 RBIs on 31 hits.  Last season, Paiton was named 1st Team All-Muskingum  Valley League and gained All District honors and was an honorable mention for All-Ohio. 

Murphy is looking forward to her time at Youngstown State studying Biology and playing softball as a Penguin.  Murphy currently has a 4.00 GPA and is a CCP student at Zane State College, as well as being a Muskingum Valley League Scholar.

Paiton has played softball since she was seven years old and is on track to go far this postseason with the Lady Dawgs.
