Vs. Meadowbrook (5/12)
Kenny Wolford Park in Dresden hosted the Meadowbrook Colts on Monday afternoon. Tri-Valley’s Draven Spinks took down the first four batters with ease. In the bottom of the 1st inning, Brady Kaufman scored on a passed ball to put the Scoties up 1 – 0. Isaiah Collins sacrificed on his first at-bat to drive home Ryan Lamonica to end the inning up 2 – 0. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Kade Hindel hit a sacrifice fly ball to bring in Daniel Huffman for the Scotties’ third run of the game, taking a 3 – 0 lead. Gavin Harrold scored on an error in the bottom of the 3rd, 4 – 0 Tri-Valley. Spinks continued to shut out the Colts, leading to Kaufman scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 4th, followed by a single from Blayne Riley to bring in Hindel for the sixth run, and Isaiah Cullins scored on a passed ball to finish out the inning up 7 – 1. Spinks finished off the game, forcing the Colts into a double-play, ending the game with a 9 -1 win for the Scotties.
The Dawgs will face the Olentangy Berlin Varsity Bears on Friday, game time is set for 7 PM.
Vs. New Philadelphia (5/10)
On their trip to the Quakers’ field on Saturday, Tri-Valley had high hopes for coming home with another victory. Brady Kaufman started the show of force for the Diamond Dawgs when he stepped up to the plate and hit a home run over the center field fence to take a 1 – 0 lead. In the 3rd inning, Hindel singled to bring home Huffman. Kaufman scored on an error, followed by Hindel on the same error, putting the Dawgs up 4 – 0. New Phila grabbed a run in the bottom of the 4th, but Harrold shut them down from the mound a few minutes later. A three-run homer from Huffman in the top of the 6th inning put Tri-Valley up 7 – 1. Cullins hit a two-run homer over the left field wall to wrap up the scoring for the game with the Dawgs
Vs. Hiland (5/9)
Tri-Valley was on the road again on Friday, this time headed to Hiland High School in Holmes County to play the Hawks. Coblentz pitched three straight strikeouts for the Hawks before coming up to hit a triple, bringing home Miller for the first run of the game with a 1 – 0 lead. Monigold sacrificed to score Coblentz, 2 – 0. Coblentz singled in the 3rd to bring in Hershberger, putting the lead at 3 – 0. The Dawgs nabbed a run in the top of the 4th when Riley scored on a walk to narrow the Hawks’ lead to 3 – 1. In the bottom of the 5th, Hostetler hit a single into second base, scoring Miller and locking down the 4 – 1 victory over Tri-Valley.
