Vs. Tri-Valley (5/12)
The Zanesville softball team headed to Dresden’s Kenny Wolford Park on Monday to face Tri-Valley. The Blue Devils took to the scoreboard first with a run from Wallace off a ground out from Walker to lead 1 – 0. The Scotties tied the game on a run from an error in the bottom of the 1st, followed by another run from Wolford to jump out to a 2 – 1 lead. Peterson hit a three-run homer for the Scotties, followed by three more runs from a walk and a double, plus a run on an error, before Refitt hit a two-run homer for Tri-Valley to end the inning up 11 – 1 over Zanesville. The bottom of the 2nd inning brought about a four-run rally for the Dawgs to increase their lead to 15 – 1. While holding Zanesville to just the one run, Tri-Valley came back for a run in the bottom of the 3rd inning and two more in the bottom of the 4th before the game was called at 18 – 1 after the top of the 5th inning.
Vs. Cambridge (5/10)
The Lady Blue Devils invited the Lady Bobcats to their home field on Saturday. Cambridge was quick to grab the upper hand as they used a double and a few errors to take a 5 – 0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. With a double and two singles in the top of the 2nd inning, the Bobcats were out to an 8 – 0 lead. Neither team was able to post a run in the 3rd inning, but the top of the 4th saw Harper double, followed by a single from Smith to end the inning up 11 – 0. Cambridge rallied in the top of the 6th inning to push their way out to a 17 – 0 victory over the Lady Blue Devils.
Vs. Johnstown-Monroe (5/07)
On a Wednesday afternoon trip to Johnstown, the Lady Blue Devils faced the Johnnies on their home field. Johnstown-Monroe started off what would end up being a 13-run rally in the bottom of the 1st with a three-run home run by Zak. Adding five more runs in the bottom of the 2nd, the Johnnies led by 18 – 0 at the end of the inning. After setting the Blue Devils up for three quick outs, Johnstown-Monroe smashed out another eight-run rally in the bottom of the 3rd to finalize their score at 26 and shut out Zanesville to take the 26 – 0 win.
Vs. Licking Valley (5/02)
The Lady Panthers traveled to Zanesville on Friday to face the Lady Blue Devils. From the start of the first inning, the Panthers took control of the game, jumping out to a 3 – 0 lead after one inning. With a single, triple, and a home run, Licking Valley blew their lead up to 9 – 0 at the end of the 2nd. By the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Panthers had amassed a score of 14 – 0 against Zanesville. Cyaria Wallace hit a single in the inning to drive in Amari Sumani for Zanesville’s first run of the game. Unfortunately, they couldn’t pull together a rally, and the Panthers kept pushing forward, taking a win with the final score of 19 – 1.
