Tri-Valley Girls Varsity Basketball Team Doesn’t Skip A Beat Picking Up Where They Left Off

Just two seasons past the devastating shutdown of making it all the way to the state playoffs in 2020 only to be sent home, then coming back last season to show that they were still in the game with a big Division II East District Championship Title, the Lady Dawgs want you to know they are headed toward another great season.

The girls started their season at the end of November, and since then they have won all seven games that they have played thus far including six conference wins against some of their biggest rivals finishing up this week with a big win against John Glenn.

Wednesday, December 15th at the John Glenn High School, the Scotties went head to head with the Lil’ Muskies on their turf. It was slated to be a big matchup between the two teams and was it ever. Both teams fought to gain possession of the ball but in the end of the first quarter the Lady Dawgs had edged out John Glenn 15 – 13 thanks in part to a pair of threes from #31 Mackenzie Harvey, a three-pointer from #24 Anna Krupa, and three two-point shots from #3 Lexi Howe.

In the second quarter, John Glenn briefly got the upper hand as they gained just one more point than the Scotties for the period but the Lady Dawgs still had the lead going into the locker room by a score of 27 – 25. In the quarter Lexi Howe, #10 Lexie Littick, and Anna Krupa all had three-point shots.

After halftime, John Glenn began to close the gap as they outscored the Scotties by one point yet again but the girls maintained their composure due and kept right on John Glenn’s toes with a three-point shot from both Howe and Harvey finishing out the third up 33 – 32.

The final play period ended up being decided almost entirely from the foul-shot line where #1 Gwyn Dal Ponte shined bringing in 5 points for 7 shots along with a pair of two-pointers and a two-point shot from #23 Kendall Baughman. It was another tight round but in the end, the Scotties prevailed bringing home the win with a 44 – 39 point score.

Next up the Lady Dawgs face the Philo Lady Electrics with home-court advantage here at Coach Rich Longaberger court on Saturday, December 18th, starting at 6pm.
