Tri-Valley’s varsity girls volleyball team has been on a major roll lately with a massive four straight 3 – 0 sweeping set wins over three conference teams and one non-conference. Following the sweep win against conference rival Maysville on August 25th, the girls faced off against traveling West Holmes team on Saturday, August 27th where they made quick work of their opponents picking up another three-win set and sending the WH team packing. Just three days later the girls jumped on a bus to nearby New Concord where they met up with the Lil Muskies for a conference battle which saw the Lady Dawgs handily sweep the John Glenn team for a 3 – 0 set win on August 30th. Thursday, September 1st, the Tri-Valley team was back on the home court when they went head to head with the Philo Lady Electrics. Just like before the girls were able to send Philo home with a quick 3 – 0 set win.
On Tuesday, September 6th, at Coach Rich Longaberger court in Dresden, the Lady Dawgs met up with conference competitors from River View High School. The girls were hoping to make it five in a row but the Lady Bears seemed to be a tougher nut to crack.
The two teams took the court and began battling right from the start going point for point with each other. Tri-Valley narrowly edged out the River View team with a 25 – 23 match win. In the second match, the Lady Bears got more aggressive and took the lead early on finishing out the match with a 25 – 13 win. In match three the Lady Dawgs took their turn with the early lead and pushed the RV team back with a 25 – 15 win. The fourth match of the set was a rough one with both teams showing that they wanted the win, again going point for point running the match over on points until River View finally took the win at 29 – 27 against the Lady Dawgs. The tie-breaker match was just as close as the two teams fought but the finishing score was River View 15 – Tri-Valley 12 and the Lady Bears walked away with the victory.
For the match, Ingrid Dittmar had a whopping 47 assists, for kills Eva Dittmar had 24, and Lexi Howe had 20. Anna Scheurman had 32 digs and Caity Journey had 21.
