The Dawgs started the week of April 24th with a doubleheader against longtime MVL rival Sheridan Generals. Due to a weather-postponed game from the beginning of April, the boys faced a back-to-back battle with the current leaders of the MVL ranking. The first game was a pretty even battle with the Scotties taking the first run in the fifth inning. Sheridan came back in the top of the seventh inning with a five-run rally including a two-run homer that Tri-Valley was unable to recover from ultimately losing 5 – 1.
The second game in the pair was even closer as the two teams started the runs off early with the Generals getting a run in the bottom of the first inning. The top of the second inning saw the Dawgs take the lead back with a Triple from #3 Brady Kaufman who drove in #10 Bennett Baker, followed by a single from #6 Daniel Huffman that brought in Kaufman to take the lead at 2 – 1. Sheridan tied up the game in the bottom of the second and then came back with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fourth inning to wrap up scoring and walked away with a 3 – 2 victory.
On Wednesday, April 26th, the Dawgs hosted the River View Black Bears at Kenny Wolford Park in Dresden. The Scotties opened up scoring in the bottom of the first inning when #7 Ashton Sensibaugh made it across home base on a passed ball.
In the bottom of the second #5 Kelynn Drummonds scored on a single hit by #15 Kian Drummonds to pop the lead up to 2 – 0 Tri-Valley. Likewise in the third, #10 Bennett Baker smacked a double to center field bringing in #2 Hansel Holmes for 3 – 0 Scotties.
River View was able to land on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth with one run but they were still down 3 -1 by the end of the inning.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Tri-Valley bumped their lead up to 5 – 1 on a couple of well-placed hits by Kelynn and Kian Drummonds that drove in two more runs for the Scotties. River View came back in the top of the sixth to get one more run but the Dawgs walked away with the 5 – 2 victory.
The Morgan Raiders rolled into Dresden on Thursday, the 27th to play the Scotties. In the first inning, the Dawgs grabbed two quick runs off of a single hit by Bennett Baker that brought in Sensibaugh and # 12 Nathan Better.
Kian Drummonds scored on a bunt by #6 Daniel Huffman to pop the score up to 3 – 0 Tri-Valley in the bottom of the second inning.
The Scotties finish the point total for the game in the bottom of the fifth when Nathan Better crosses the plate on a sacrifice fly by Bennett Baker to take the 4 – 0 victory over Morgan.
