After winning a doubleheader against the New Albany Eagles on Saturday, April 22nd, the girls went on to face the Sheridan Lady Generals on Monday, the 24th, in Thornville.
#8 Paiton Murphy started the scoring in the top of the second inning when she cracked a two-run homer bringing in teammate #2 Falon Wolford. Just two plays later #13 Keyonna Murphy popped another two-run homer over the fence in left field pushing #14 Kylan Brock across the plate to wake the scoreboard with a 4 – 0 lead over Sheridan.
The two teams went scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Lady Generals grabbed two quick runs.
In the top of the very next inning, however, the Scotties looked to the scoreboard again as they lit it up when Paiton Murphy scored on a single hit by #3 Olivia Rapol, followed by a home base steal by Falon Wolford setting the score at 6 – 2 Tri-Valley. On the next at-bat #15 Caity Journey popped a single to center that brought in Rapol and Keyonna Murphy followed her across the plate on steal a few minutes later. Caity was saved by a line-drive single hit by #20 Ally Peterson to top off the scoring for the Lady Dawgs at 9 runs. Sheridan fired back with one run in the bottom of the sixth but that was all they could muster as Tri-Valley walked away with a 9 – 3 win.
The Lady Dawgs blasted off to a great start with a six-run first inning on the road against Cambridge on Tuesday, April 25th. It was Rapol scoring on a single hit by Ally Peterson, followed by Peterson scoring on a double by #24 Raegan Smith, Smith then crossed the plate on a grounder by Falon Wolford, Falon and Paiton Murphy both make it in on a double hit by Kylan Brock, and Brock scores on a final double by #1 Belle Baughman.
Cambridge answered back with one run in the bottom of the first but the score was 6 – 1 after one.
In the top of the second inning, Peterson and Journey both score on a single grounder to left hit by Raegan Smith.
The ninth run for the Lady Dawgs was a nice homer hit over left-field fence by Kylan Brock to put the score at 9 – 1 in the top of the third. Cambridge brought their score up to two with a run in the bottom of the third.
Raegan Smith came back in the fourth inning to hit a massive three-run homer over left field to bring home Journey and Peterson and set the score to 12 – 2 TV. Cambridge grabbed their last run of the game in the bottom of the fourth for a total of three.
The Scotties piled on three more runs to finish out the scoring for the night with #7 Cydnee Wolford, Rapol, and Journey all crossing the plate and toppling Cambridge with a final score of 15 – 3.
On the next night, the River View Lady Black Bears made a trip to Dresden to play the Scotties on their home field. Kylan Brock put the first run on the scoreboard when she hit a double to left driving home teammate Falon Wolford. Paiton Murphy ran across the plate in the very next play on a single by #4 Gabby French to end the inning with a 2 – 0 lead.
Paiton Murphy singled in the bottom of the third to allow Caity Journey to score followed by Ally Peterson being driven in by a walk and the Lady Dawgs had a 4 – 0 lead at the end of three.
In the bottom of the fourth inning Raegan Smith hit a single bringing home Caity Journey and scoring their fifth run of the game.
To wrap-up the game, the Lady Dawgs smashed a six-run inning in the bottom of the fifth. Kylan Brock started off by scoring on an error. Gabby French scored the seventh run of the game on a single hit by Keyonna Murphy, who then scored on a passed ball. Rapol ran home on a sacrifice fly hit by Caity Journey making the score 9 – 0. Two plays later Raegan Smith stepped up to the plate to end the night with a two run homerun that brought in Ally Peterson to finish the game with a 11 – 0 victory.
At the end of the winning streak, the Lady Dawgs had a miss against the Morgan Raiders as the two battled it out in Dresden but ultimately Morgan went home with the 2 – 1 victory.
