Tri-Valley Lady Dawgs on a six game winning streak to start the season

Vs. John Glenn (4/1)

Tri-Valley visited New Concord on Tuesday, where the Lil’ Muskies took home advantage to grab a 1 – 0  lead in the bottom of the first inning on a single by Bell. In the bottom of the third inning, John Glenn scored another run on a sacrifice fly by Babcock. Later in the inning, Brown and Matheney scored on an error to give the Muskies a 4 – 0 advantage. Daniels scored the last run of the inning for John Glenn to give them a 5 – 0 lead over Tri-Valley. In the top of the 4th inning, Cydnee Wolford scored for Tri-Valley on a single hit by Ally Peterson.  Peterson scored on a single by Katelyn Paxson to narrow the advantage down to 5 – 2. Lauren Leas stepped up and smacked a double into center field bringing in Paxson, Bell, and Tessa Green to level the score at 5 – 5. The Lady Dawgs took the go-ahead run in the top of the fifth inning when Holdsworth singled to allow Wolford to score giving Tri-Valley a 6 – 5 lead.  The Scotties came back in the top of the 6th inning with Green and Mathews scoring on a single by Wolford to lead 8 – 5. John Glenn scored a run in the bottom of the 6th, but they were not able to catch up to the Lady Dawgs, who led 8 – 6. Tri-Valley scored their final two runs of the game on an error that allowed Holdsworth to score run number 9 and Green to score run number 10 on a wild pitch. John Glenn was not able to recover in the bottom of the 7th inning, and the Lady Dawgs took the 10 – 6 victory.

Vs. Indian Valley Doubleheader (3/29)

At Kenny Wolford Park on Saturday, Tri-Valley faced Indian Valley for a doubleheader.  Game one started off with the Braves taking a 1 – 0 lead in the top of the 1st inning, but Tri-Valley answered back, tying the score at 1 before taking a 5 – 1 lead at the bottom of the third inning.  Indian Valley tied the game at 5 in the top of the 4th, but Tri-Valley struck again, taking an 8 – 5 lead in the bottom of the 4th inning. Both teams battled through a scoreless 5th inning, but then the Braves tried to rally back in the top of the 6th inning with two runs but fell short of tying the game back up, allowing the Scotties to swoop in and land three more runs to take game one by a score of 11 – 7.

Tri-Valley didn’t waste any time in game two, taking a 3 – 0 lead after the bottom of the 1st inning.  Both teams went scoreless until the top of the seventh inning when Indian Valley scored two runs, falling short of a tie, and the Lady Dawgs swept the doubleheader with a 2 – 3 victory in game 2.

Vs. Heath (3/28)

Tri-Valley hosted the Heath Lady Bulldogs on Friday in Kenny Wolford Park. The Scotties came out of the gate swinging, grabbing a run in each of the first two innings, followed by two runs in the bottom of the third inning for a 4 – 0 lead. Heath bounced back in the top of the 4th and 5th innings with three runs but still trailed by one after five innings when Tri-Valley added a fifth run to their tally.  The Lady Bulldogs tried to rally in the top of the 7th but fell a run short, and the Scotties won 5 – 4.

Vs Maysville (3/27)

On Thursday at Kenny Wolford Park in Dresden, the Lady Dawgs took on the Maysville Panthers.  Right from the start, TV Pitcher Paiton Murphy popped out a 1,2,3 inning. In the bottom of the 1st, Alivia Refitt homered to left field, scoring a run for the Scotties and taking a 1 – 0 lead over Maysville. Ally Peterson walked on the next play and was driven home by a double from Ashlyn Davis to bump the lead to 2 – 0. Larsyn Holdsworth stepped up to the bag to smack another double for the Lady Dawgs, bringing home Davis for 3. Holdswortch scored on a single by Delaney Bell, making the Scotties up by 4. Bell scored on an error along with Katelyn Paxson giving Tri-Valley a 6 point advantage before the inning was shut down by the Panthers. The second inning started off in the same way, with Murphy pitching three quick outs before putting the Scottie batting lineup back to work.  Peterson scored for Tri-Valley on an error in the bottom of the 2nd, followed by Holdsworth scoring on a wild pitch to give Tri-Valley an 8 – 0 lead. On Murphy’s next at bat, she hit a line-drive double to right field, giving Bell, Paxson, and Lauren Leas a chance to grab three more runs, TV up by 11. Cydnee Wolford scored on an error by the Maysville third baseman, ending the second inning with Tri-Valley leading 12 – 0. The Scotties’ last run of the day came in the bottom of the 4th inning when Reffitt hit a sacrifice fly to center, allowing Wolford to score the 13th run for the Lady Dawgs before the game ended in a Mercy decision after a 1,2,3 top of the fifth inning.  Murphy was attributed the shutout for Tri-Valley.
