Vs. Post 11 17U (6/24)
On Tuesday, the Zanesville Post 29 Jr. Legion travelled to Beaver’s field to play Post 11 17U. Post 11 got out to a quick lead after Zanesville’s first inning went down in two strikeouts and an out on an attempted steal. In the bottom of the first inning, Post 11 nabbed two runs on a triple from Pennington, and an additional two runs on a single from Conrad to end the 1st inning up 4 – 0. The hosts proceeded to put up two more runs in the bottom of the 2nd. Already up 6 – 0, Post 11 tacked on three more runs to take a massive 9 – 0 lead by the end of the 3rd inning. Beau Young scored for the Jr. Legion in the top of the 4th on an error, but it was not enough to recover, and the game ended after four with Post 11 taking a 9 – 1 victory.
Post 29 Jr. Legion will be back at Gant Stadium Friday, June 27th, game time is set for 12:30 AM.
Vs. Post 159 Jr. Legion (6/20, 6/22)
On Friday, at St Clairsville Junior Sports, the Zanesville Jr. Legion dropped game one against Post 159. In the bottom of the first two innings, Post 159 pumped out five total runs while holding Post 29 scoreless. In the top of the 3rd, Kyle Lane scored on a single by Brody Merkle, in the bottom of the same inning, Post 159 hammered out two more runs, followed by a huge eight-run rally in the bottom of the 4th to take the 15 – 1 lead that would be the final score as the game wrapped up after five innings.
Sunday’s game back at Gant Stadium didn’t fare any better for Post 29 as the visitors took a 7 – 0 lead after two and slammed out four runs in each of the 4th and 5th innings to take another 15 – 1 win over Post 29.
Vs. Belle Valley Cambridge Post 84/641 Jr. Legion (6/18 doubleheader)
In the first of two games against Belle Valley on Wednesday, Zanesville popped out to a two-run lead in the top of the first inning with Kyle Lane scoring on a steal of home base, followed by Carter Henderson running in on a single by Beau Young to take. Belle Valley came back in the bottom of the 2nd with a four-run inning to take the lead 4 – 2. In the top of the 4th inning, Caleb Camp scored on a fielder’s choice from Kyle Lane. Post 84 answered back in the bottom of the 5th inning with one run. Henderson nabbed the final run for Post 29 in the top of the 7th on a single by Young, but they fell just short of the tying run and lost to Post 84, 5 – 4.
Game two was a taller hill to climb for the Jr. Legion, who had the lead for one inning after Lane scored on a single from Parker Schofield, starting the game up 1 – 0. However, Post 84 lit up their batting lineup as they slammed out 16 runs over the next three innings, with eight runs in the bottom of the 3rd alone to take the 16 – 1 win after four innings.
