Philo football shocks their competition as they sit atop the MVL as the season continues

Vs. Crooksville (9/26)

In Duncan Falls on Friday Night, the Electrics were looking to shatter the Ceramics. Crooksville was looking for revenge after losing to the Electrics 37 – 7 last season on their home field. Things were not looking so good for the Ceramics as Philo pumped out two touchdowns in the first quarter to lead 15 – 3 going into the second quarter. The two teams battled through the second quarter but didn’t advance the scoreboard, so the Ceramics went to halftime with a 15 – 3 deficit.

Philo received the kickoff in the third quarter and, within the first minute, fired off a 45-yard touchdown pass followed by the extra point to lead 22 – 3. A few minutes later, the Electrics pushed in a 10-yard touchdown run to land at 29 – 3 after the extra point kick. As the clock ticked down, Philo got more and more aggressive as they pumped out another 40-yard touchdown pass to lead 36 – 3, kicking the game into a running clock, which ran the last five minutes of the quarter down to not. With just minutes left in the game, Crooksville grabbed a short-yard touchdown to narrow Philo’s lead to 36 – 10 and to put the clock back in normal mode with 3:46 left in the game. As the last seconds ran down, Crooksville got a safety to end the game, falling to the Electrics 36 – 12.

The Electrics host the Sheridan Generals, Friday, October 3rd, kickoff is at 7 PM.

Vs. Meadowbrook (9/19)

On the road in Byesville, the Electrics were looking to add another win to their growing tally. Within the first quarter of the game, Philo landed a touchdown to take a 7 – 0 lead. As they rounded into the second quarter, the Electrics pushed across the goal line yet again to bump their lead to 13 – 0. But Philo wasn’t finished yet. With just two minutes left in the first half, the Elecrtrics ran in another touchdown, but missed the extra two-point conversion to amass a 19 – 0 lead heading into halftime.

Meadowbrook couldn’t make good on the kickoff that they received from Philo after the break and eventually had to turn the ball back over to the Electrics. Jack Lincicome took the opportunity and ran with it, literally, as he nabbed a 48-yard rushing touchdown followed by a good extra point kick to lead 26 – 0. The Colts finally got it together with a passing touchdown in the last six minutes of the 3rd quarter to close in a little, leaving Philo up 26 – 6. Over the course of the last few minutes of the game, Philo made sure to lock in the win, bolstering their lead to the tune of 44 points. Meadowbrook put in another touchdown, but, the Colts still fell to the Electrics 44 – 14.
