West Muskingum girls soccer cap season with District Runner-Up Title

Vs. Tuscarawas Valley (10/22)

On neutral ground at Stewart Field in Coshocton, Ohio, the girls’ varsity soccer teams of the West Muskingum Tornadoes hosted the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans in a high-stakes district contest. The Trojans edged out the Tornadoes by a score of 2-1.

From the opening whistle, both teams displayed urgency and intensity as the postseason atmosphere pressed in. West Muskingum, riding a seven-game winning streak entering the night, came out with confidence, pressing forward and seeking to assert home-field dominance.

Tuscarawas Valley, meanwhile, stayed composed and methodical. They struck first, finding the back of the net and gaining a 1-0 lead. West Muskingum responded with vigor, equalizing before halftime to keep the contest deadlocked. However, the Trojans would deliver the decisive goal in the second half. That tally held up, giving Tuscarawas Valley the narrow win.

West Muskingum had enjoyed a strong run leading up to the game—seven straight wins at home, but the loss abruptly halted that surge.

West Muskingum’s season, meanwhile, concludes with a record of 13-3-3. While the campaign ends earlier than the team hoped, they walk away with the District Runner-Up Title, holding their heads high.

Vs. Cambridge (10/22)

The West Muskingum Lady Tornadoes delivered a powerful statement on Monday, October 20, 2025, as they soared past the Cambridge Bobcats with a decisive 5-2 victory to advance in the postseason.

From kickoff, the Lady Tornadoes showed they meant business. Their forwards pressed, midfielders hustled down every loose ball, and the back line stayed sharp under early pressure. Within the first 15 minutes, West Muskingum opened the scoring after a combination play. Suddenly, it was 1-0, and the momentum shifted clearly toward Zanesville’s side.

Once ahead, West Muskingum didn’t let up. They found space on the wings, delivered accurate crosses, and kept the Bobcats chasing. Midway through the half, the Lady Tornadoes struck again, a quick one-two, a diagonal run, and a well-placed finish made it 2-0. Cambridge managed to pull one back before halftime, heading into the break down 2-1, but the Lady Tornadoes carried the momentum.

The second half saw the Lady Tornadoes maintain control. They balanced attacking ambition with defensive discipline. Their third goal came off a set-piece, where smart movement in the box paid off. At 3-1, it felt like the game was theirs. Shortly afterward, they added goal number 4 after a counterattack turned into a finish. Cambridge again responded, cutting it to 4-2, but West Muskingum sealed it late with a fifth strike, finishing the game at 5-2.
