Tri-Valley swimmers have had a very exciting holiday season as they have gone from a relaxed Holiday Relay where they competed against 200 swimmers from nine area schools in “fun” events (ie: the Sock relay) to a very competitive double-dual meet against John Glenn and New Philadelphia.
Scotty swimmers performed well in the latter meet where they continued to progress and gain valuable experience as they head toward the culmination of an exciting season. Against John Glenn, the boys had a strong outing as they won 63 to 30. The girls won by a score of 69 to 18.
The Dawgs didn’t fare quite so well against the very experienced squad from New Philadelphia as the girls lost 37 to 57 and the boys were on the short end of a 26 to 67 tally.
Highlights of the New Philly/John Glenn meet included a total of 15 first place finishes for the girls (out of 22 events), and 9 firsts for the boys (out of 22 events). The girls notched 9-second place slots while the boys recorded 10 seconds.
Against John Glenn in the individual events the standouts for the girls (recording first place finishes) were Seryna Mann (200 Free), Mariah Clark (50 Free) and Katya Liber (500 Free). With double firsts were Larissa Lynch (200 IM and 100 Fly) and Caroline Holmes (100 Free and 100 Back ).
For the boys in the individual
On the relay side for the girls, the team of Lynch, Mann, Liber
Seniors Bumpus, Bell, Allen and Jacoby started the scoring for the boys with a convincing win in the Boys 200 Medley Relay. They were followed by teammates Allen, Will Kline, Mason McDaniel
Highlights were fewer against the strong squad from New Philly. Standouts for the girls were Larissa Lynch who notched wins in the Girls 200 IM as well as the 100 Fly. Teammate Caroline Holmes touched first in two of her signature events, the 100 Free as well as the 100 Back. On the relay side, the team of Waggle, Mann, Sees and Holmes finished first in the Girls 200 Free Relay.
The boys lone first-place finish against New Philly was recorded by Senior Keegan Bumpus in the Boys 100 Fly. Near misses came in the 200 Medley Relay (2nd place by Bumpus, Bell, Allen and Jacoby), Chad Bell (2nd place in the 100 Free and 100 Back), Kline, McDaniel,
