Muskingum County Bar Association Essay Contest 2019

The 2019 Law Day Essay Contest: Free Speech, Free Press, Free SocietyExplore how we the people must continually act to ensure that our constitutional democracy endures, preserving our liberties and advancing our rights. The 2019 Law Day theme—Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society—focuses on these cornerstones of representative government and calls on us to understand and protect these rights to ensure, as the U.S. Constitution proposes, “the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.”

To call public attention to the principles and practices of law and justice in the United States, the Muskingum County Bar Association is sponsoring an essay contest open to 2019 graduates of Muskingum County high schools.

Essays must address the above topic and should be 500-1000 words in length. Quality is more important than quantity. The essays should be in 12-point font and double-spaced. A cover page must include the student’s name, home address, contact number and high school.

Awards will be given at a public ceremony commemorating Law Day, to be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 in the Muskingum County Common Pleas Large Courtroom, Courthouse.

Essays must be emailed to the Muskingum County Community Foundation, Scholarship Central, attn: Heather Sands, scholarshipcentral@mccf.org, and be received no later than Monday, April 15, 2019.
