The Tri-Valley Varsity Softball team fought hard and came away with a Runner-Up title for Division II.
Let me break down the numbers for you, in case you were wondering. There are 745 varsity softball teams in the state of Ohio, out of those the Lady Dawgs ranked higher than 738. And if that wasn’t a large enough number, at approximately 14 players per team that means the Scotties beat 10,332 other players, that’s a lot! Great Job Ladies!
On May 2nd, the Scotties faced the Lady Bears of River View. They started off the evening right with Alex Lemley scoring on a wild pitch in the first inning.
In the bottom of the third inning the Scotties put another run on the board as Brynn Miller hit a grounder to first base that allowed Maddy Wortman to score bringing the Scotties ahead 2 – 0.
The lady dawgs were able to hold the lead until the top of the 7th inning when River View put 2 runs of their own on the board tying up the game.
In the top of the 8th (extra innings) the Lady Bears added 3 go-ahead runs and unfortunately the Scotties were not able to answer back and the game ended with River View 5 – Tri-Valley 2.
The Lady Dawgs ended their season with a 21 – 6 overall record, along with a 13 – 3 MVL runner-up record. And as the end of the season always brings a mix of emotions from happiness to sadness, one of the main sentiments from the team is how much they are going to miss their beloved nine seniors who will be moving on in sports and in life. Congratulations go out to team manager Jessica Mahon, Savannah Shumway, Alex Lemley, Brooke Hunter, Cheyenne Coleman, Hannah Worthington, Janessa Dawson, Kearstin Dumolt, and Reagan Baughman. The team will not be the same without you, but they will most certainly do their best to follow in your footsteps!
