The restaurant that is often unofficially referred to as “the ice cream shop” surprised us in October with the announcement that they would be staying open through the winter months. 1340 Cafe and Sweet Shop, located at 1340 Main Street in Dresden, Ohio, have been serving cold-weather favorites like chili as daily specials in addition to their already well-rounded menu which includes everything from burgers and fries, to fresh salads, to decadent sweet treats.
Just before Thanksgiving, they made another announcement that came as a welcomed surprise for many….they are serving breakfast from 7 am to 11am! However, it will be for a limited time only. The one-week breakfast menu will end on Saturday, December 7.
The breakfast offerings include a Breakfast Burrito, French Toast Plate, Buttermilk Pancake Plate, Sausage Gravy Over Biscuits with Eggs, a Classic Breakfast Plate (eggs, sausage patties or smoked bacon and toast or hashbrowns), Fried Egg Sammie, a Good Morning Breakfast Plate (eggs, smoked bacon, or sausage patties, and a short stack of pancakes or french toast), and Morning Sticky Buns (a made-from-scratch cinnamon pecan roll with homemade caramel drizzled on top). All of the favorite breakfast beverages are being offered as well like coffee, milk and orange juice along with hot chocolate, chocolate milk, and an organic juice box.
The breakfast items are reasonably priced and range from $2.50 for a breakfast burrito to the Good Morning Plate for just $6.50. Most drinks are around $1.00 including coffee.
Just like with the entire menu at 1340 Cafe everything can be ordered over the phone ahead of time and picked up to enjoy at home or work.
1340 Cafe and Sweet Shop owner Natalie Walker mentioned that this is a trial run for breakfast. Depending on how it goes they may bring breakfast back in the new year.
