Alice in Wonder Land

by Alice Stratman Smith

In John 14:1-31 (NKJV), the word ‘if’ is mentioned seven times. That small word has a BIG meaning. Webster dictionary – In case that; supposing or granting that. “If I would have come to a complete stop at the stop sign I would not have to pay this fine.” Here is a poem by Clara Kish who was a member of Abundant Life Ministries (south of Hopewell, Ohio) when my husband Larry was the pastor.
IF ONLY
If only we would turn to The Lord.
If we’d just hand each problem to Him each thing that has us troubled so.
If only we would just place it there into The Lord’s Great and Mighty hand.
If only we had the faith to believe that Jesus has the Power to understand.
If only each day we’d walk with Him as through this life we travel along, we could hand each problem over to Him for He’s Great, He’s mighty and strong.
Too seldom do we trust Him and believe until some great trial comes our way.
Then when we have no place else to go in our grief we’ll turn to Him and pray.
Jesus wants us to be truly forever His, not just like a cloak you can cast aside.
If at the end we miss eternity with God it won’t be that The Lord had never tried.
Time here is short, just a wink in God’s Eye.
If only we could really understand that The Lord’s help is just a prayer away.
All we do is reach out and take His Hand!
