Dr. Waggle And Family Scholarship Recipients Awarded

Looking to the future is important, especially in trying times like these. In just that manner on Saturday, May 2, Dr. Brian Waggle and his family awarded the 2 recipients for their 2020 Dr. Waggle and Family Scholarship.

The scholarship was started by the Waggle Family 7 years ago when their son was in his senior year at Tri-Valley High School. Each year they give out 2 – $500 scholarships (in 2017 they had 4 recipients) to Tri-Valley seniors who are planning to go to college for dentistry or some other health related field. The candidates must complete a questionnaire and submit an essay to be qualified for the selection process.

Once the recipients are selected each year, Dr. Waggle would then present the scholarship at the annual banquet honoring the seniors at Tri-Valley. This year, however, things had to be done a little differently. Due to the closing of all Ohio schools by the governor, Dr. Waggle and his family met with the two selected seniors at a separate location to award each of them their $500 scholarship check.

One of this years scholarships was awarded to Mariah Clark. Mariah is a Tri-Valley senior who is planning to go to Zane State to learn to be a Physical Therapy Assistant this summer and into the fall.

“I was very surprised and excited to be selected for the scholarship and the money will help pay for the classes I plan to take this summer at Zane State” stated Clark.

Caroline Holmes was the other Tri-Valley senior to be selected. Caroline is excited to be attending Hillsdale College in Hillsdale Michigan this fall where she received an academic merit / athletic scholarship and will be swimming in their NCAA Division II swim team. She will be majoring in Chemistry with a minor in Spanish.

Caroline stated “I am so honored to receive this scholarship and am very thankful to the Waggle Family for their investment in my education.  I promise that this money will be put to good use at Hillsdale College!”

Congratulations to these two seniors as well as the rest of the Tri-Valley Class of 2020, and thank you to Dr. Waggle and family for your continued support of the community!
