With so many holiday events and activities being canceled this year we thought it would be fun to start a free Christmas Lights Contest open to the entire Tri-Valley area. We are calling it Deck the Valley.
Deck the Valley is brought to you by the Dresden Buzz and a group of local sponsors who are helping with the prizes for the winners…we will get to more about that in a second.
First, let’s explain how the contest works. Anyone interested in submitting their home or business into the contest can visit the website deckthevalley.com to register. We will just need a picture of the outside of your home or business decorated for the holidays and your address so everyone will know where they can see your decorations in person. Entries will not go live on the website until we approve them. We will be manually approving the entries periodically throughout each day of the contest. Once the entries are posted, anyone (no matter their location) can vote for all of their favorites, there is no limit. However, voters can only vote for each home or business once. In addition to a gallery of entries, there will also be an interactive map on the website that will indicate where all of the participating lit homes and businesses are so those wanting to drive around to look at Christmas lights know where to go.
The contest will end 8pm on December 31 and all votes will be counted. The winners will be announced on Friday, January 1st in the Dresden Buzz, on the Dresden Buzz website, Buzz social media pages and the Deck the Valley website. There will be first, second, and third place winners. All winners will receive a novelty trophy and Deck the Valley swag. In addition, the first-place winner will receive a prize bundle comprised of gift certificates or items from the Warehouse Restaurant, New Found Treasures, MARS, Humble Heart, The Farm Table on Main, Dresden’s Baskets and More, Dresden & Company, Smore Christmas, and Millers Emporium (this list is not final and may change).
