Former Hometown Star Player Named Tri-Valley Head Football Coach

DRESDEN – Tri-Valley High School is pleased to announce that Cameron West will be named Head Football Coach for the Scotties, pending board approval. During his time as quarterback at TVHS, Coach West guided Tri-Valley to their first playoff appearance (2006) and playoff win (2007).  He will now look to continue a successful run of football that he helped start as a standout athlete during his playing days.

West, who earned All-Ohio accolades as a player, continued his winning ways after high school. He spent four years as a defensive back at Division III power Mount Union, where he earned his degree in education. After college, Coach West eventually made his way back to Dresden where he became a fixture on Coach Justin Buttermore’s staff.  During his tenure as an assistant coach at Tri-Valley, West was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016 and helped guide the Scotties to a State Runner-Up finish in 2017.

After taking a year off from coaching to pursue an administrative position at Foxfire Schools, Coach West will return to the sidelines in Dresden.  As a former Tri-Valley student, teacher and coach, Mr. West is looking forward to the next chapter in his story as the Head Coach of the Scotties.  As Athletic Director Erin Nezbeth states, “We are extremely excited for Coach West to take over our football program. He has knowledge of our school system and community, a passion for our student-athletes, and an enthusiasm for the game of football that will be contagious to others within the program.”
