Zanesville High School was filled to the brim with fans for both of the Co-MVL champion teams as the met up on the playoff trail to hash out which one would move on to the Regional Finals. The game started off as tough as it has been to date for the Lady Dawgs as Sheridan kept them playing catchup until the final quarter of the game where Tri-Valley pulled out the lead and held onto it to win by a mere shot 50 – 48.
Right from the tipoff the Lady Dawgs were struggling as Sheridan took an early lead and held the Scottie offense to a 6 point cap as they pushed ahead an extra three points to end out the quarter 9 – 6 against the Scotties.
Sheridan continued to build their lead in the 2nd period of play pushing past the Lady Dawg defense to up their standings to a 5 point lead by halftime with Sheridan at 23 and Tri-Valley at 18.
The halftime break did not slow down the Sheridan Lady Generals as they blasted forward to take a more demanding 9 point lead by the end of the third quarter at 38 – 29 against Tri-Valley.
All but counted out by Sheridan the Lady Dawgs blazed into the 4th quarter covering the nine point deficit by the 3 minute mark and then went toe to toe and shot for shot with the Lady Generals for the next two and half minutes in a nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat, crowd roar so loud your ears would still be ringing, battle that saw the Scotties take the lead by one point with only 34 seconds remaining in the game. By the time the final buzzer rang Tri-Valley had added one more point to take the come-from-behind victory over Sheridan with Tri-Valley at 50 – Sheridan at 48.
