It was a night of bold effort and narrow margins for the John Glenn Little Muskies as they hosted the New Philadelphia Quakers on Tuesday evening, coming up just short in a 4-3 decision.
John Glenn came out energized and took control early, pushing the pace and connecting passes in the midfield that shifted the Quakers off balance. The Muskies broke through and led 2-1 at the half.
The second half opened with New Philadelphia rallying. They tied the game and then took a brief lead at 3-2. John Glenn responded determinedly to tie it 3-3, setting off a tense back-and-forth for the closing minutes. In the final stretch, the Muskies had a few chances to regain the edge but couldn’t convert. The Quakers struck the decisive goal, and despite John Glenn’s late surges, there was no tie. When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard stood at 4-3 in favor of New Philadelphia.
