SAMANTHA MOZENA RECEIVES STATE 4-H AWARD

Muskingum County 4-H member Samantha Mozena was presented the 2019 Ohio 4-H Achievement Award in Personal Development at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau  4-H Center in Columbus on June 6. 4-H Achievement Awards are presented to the top youth in a particular project or leadership area in Ohio each year. Twenty-nine 4-H Achievement Award winners will attend the National 4-H Congress with youth from all over the country this November in Atlanta, Georgia. Her award was sponsored by Jim and Marlene Helt, who are both natives of Muskingum County. Jim worked for Ohio State University Extension as a 4-H Educator, District Specialist and retired as State 4-H Leader.

The daughter of Dennis and Valerie Mozena of Zanesville, Samantha is a 14-year 4-H member from Norwich Stovetop Stitchers and Critters 4-H Club. Samantha is a member of the Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council and will serve as a Junior Advisor during 2019-2020. Locally, Samantha has served as a 4-H CARTEENS Volunteer, County 4-H Ambassador, 4-H Junior Leader, member of Junior Fair Board and Camp Counselor. Samantha has also excelled in a variety of project areas, compiling a number of awards and representing Muskingum County at the Ohio State Fair on multiple occasions.

Samantha is a graduate of Tri-Valley High School and is currently attending Ohio University-Zanesville, where she is studying Communications and Applied Management. She [plans to pursue a career as an Extension Educator.
