Scotties Boys Soccer Takes Down River View

On Tuesday, September 15th at Kenny Wolford Park in Dresden, the Tri-Valley Scotties boys soccer program took on the River View Black Bears on their return to the MVL after spending several seasons in another league.

The Dawgs gave a warm welcome back courtesy of senior Austin Curtis who landed the first Scottie goal in the first 5 minutes of the game against the Black Bears. Just a few minutes later Curtis landed the second and final goal for the Scotties, but that was enough to lock down the game and put a win in the books for the Dawgs as they took the night at 2 – 1 against River View.

“It was an amazing team effort and it showed what we can do when we play as a cohesive unit. We are going to continue to raise the level at training and work hard for continued success.” stated head coach Roderick Gibson.

The Scotties also wore special shirts to honor the life and community legacy of Captain Danny Harlow who passed away on September 13th. The shirts featured a blue Ohio silhouette with a line that had Captain Harlows E.O.W. and the back of the shirt said “You will never walk alone”. The soccer team is looking into setting up a fundraiser with the proceeds being donated to an organization who assists Police Officers with suicide prevention in the near future.

Coach Gibson also stated “We were also very honored to have been able to remember Captain Harlow tonight. While we enjoy soccer, it’s just a game at the end of the day. We offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends.”

On the road this week, the Scotties suffered two losses at the hands of West Muskingum and Dover as they look forward to being back on home turf on Tuesday the 29th as they face their MVL rival the Sheridan Generals.
