Scotties Football Awards Banquet

The Tri-Valley football program had a wonderful season with a lot of exceptional achievements to go around.  On Monday, December 10th, Tri-Valley hosted an awards banquet to honor the team and the individual accolades of the players and support team members.  

To start of the night, Tri-Valley Athletic Director, Erin Nezbeth addressed the large crowd of parents, players, and staff, welcoming them to the cafetorium.  He also presented the first award of the evening, the 3rd annual Cam Ross Freshman Football Award for Leadership, which was presented to Freshman player Drew Burkhart with the help of Matt Ross.  Matt is the father of Camden Ross, a Tri-Valley athelete who passed away in July of 2016.  The annual award is presented to a freshman football player who displays leadership and character on the field and in class.  

Mr. Nezbeth turned over the microphone to Tri-Valley Athletic Trainer Dave Peadon to present third-year varsity letter plaques to his student-trainers Karley Snyder, Hailey Howell, and Dakota Higgins (who was not able to make it to the banquet). Each of the student trainers also received Muskingum Valley League Scholar-Athlete honors for keeping at least a 3.5gpa in school.

Next up was Kelly Lawler the Cheerleading Head Coach and her assistant Alaina Tharp. Lawler awarded second-year varsity letters to Sydney Moran and Makenna Ellis. Emilee Clapper, Laine Stanchin, Cameron McCullough, Jessica Haug, Emily James, Megan Myers, Alexis McNeal, Jordyne Little, Vanessa Chilcoat, Cheyenne Kessler, and Corina Kain all received their first-year varsity letter for cheer.

Coach Fell then took the mic along with his assistant coaches to introduce and recognize players from the varsity team. Coach Kevin Fell, is a 38-year football coaching veteran and first-year Tri-Valley coach.   Coach Fells first season with the Scotties brought about an 8th straight MVL title for the team as well as Tri-Valley’s 11th OHSAA state playoff entry.  

First-year varsity letters were awarded to Blayze Taylor, Kyle Judd, Luke Fargus, Tyler Kinney, Hayden Mealey, Ben Reiss, Graham Cameron, Karter Jones, Keaton Williams, Trey Cannon, Cy Burkhart, Aiden Fritter, Blake Kendrick, Blake Sands, Rob Wachter, Dylan Richardson, Kaiden Carpenter, Jordan Pantaleo, Jalen Goins-Chandler, Will Kline, Kaden Bay, Ben Williams, Tom Reiss, Seth Tyson, and Jake Priest.

Second-year varsity letters were awarded to Carson Simpkins, Trever Neibarger, Hudson Brown, Drew Richert, AJ Collins, and Gyle Bradshaw.

Third-year Scottie letter plaques were given to Cade Sterling, Sam Slaboden, Chase Kendrick, Kaden Lawler, Garrette Miller, and Garrett French.

The coaches also gave out the high honor of Muskingum Valley League Scholar Athlete recognition to Jake Priest, Will Kline, Keaton Williams, Carson Simpkins, Cade Sterling, Sam Slaboden, Hudson Brown, Hayden Mealey, Dylan Richardson, and Cy Burkhart, Ben Reiss, Tom Reiss, Kaiden Carpenter, Blake Sands, Jordan Pantaleo, Kaden Lawler, Luke Fargus, Chase Kendrick, Garrette Miller, Garrett French, Drew Richert, Trey Cannon, and Seth Tyson. This award is to recognize the players for earning a varsity letter while maintaining at least a 3.5gpa in class. Way to go Dawgs!

There were also some All-Ohio awards given out to recognize players at a state level. Gyle Bradshaw was awarded Special Mention All-Ohio – Defense, Cade Sterling was given Second Team All-Ohio – Defense, Chase Kendrick received 1st Team All-Ohio – Defense, Kaden Lawler got 1st Team All-Ohio – Offense, Luke Fargus was given Special Mention All-Ohio – Offense, and Garrett French received Special Mention All-Ohio, Offensive Line.
