After the upset against John Glenn on their previous game, Tri-Valley needed a win to keep up morale and to keep their ranking high enough to be in the running for playoffs. While the outcome of their game against much younger West Muskingum Tornadoes was highly anticipated to be a win, it was still good to see the Scotties firing on all cylinders.
Scotties struck quickly with a short touchdown run from #8 Senior Running Back Hayden (Meals on Wheels) Mealey, followed by the extra point by #46 Kaden Bay to bring the score to 7 – 0 Tri-Valley.
Shortly after kicking off to the Tornadoes #18 Cy Burkhart grabbed an interception to put the Scotties back in possession of the ball, which they quickly capitalized on with a 38-yard touchdown pass from #19 Fritter to #33 Pantaleo bringing the score to 13-0. Just 3 minutes later the DAWGS would strike again with an 18-yard pass from #6 Luke Fargus to #4 Carson Simpkins for a touchdown that brought the score to 19-0 still in the first quarter of play.
Unfortunately for the Tornadoes, the Scotties were the only thing sweeping through as they started the second quarter just as focused as the first. In the first few seconds of the second quarter #33, Jordan Pantaleo found the end zone with a good PAT from Kaden Bay to make the score 26-0.
And the perfect storm continued as #9 Luke Fargus threw a pass to #19 Aiden Fritter for a 50-yard touchdown shooting the score to 33-0. But one of the most exciting plays of the half and probably the game was a pass from #30 Kaiden Carpenter to #33 Jordan Pantaleo who broke free from the pack to run the ball 76-yards for a touchdown and with that Tri-Valley extended their lead to 40-0 before the end of the first half with the PAT’s respectively.
Due to the large lead, the Scotties had going into halftime, the second half of the game had a running clock implemented which means that short of a time-out or an official calling to stop the clock for any reason that the clock would continue to run until the end of the game.
Despite the time crunch, the DAWGs continued where they left off when #30 Kaiden Carpenter completed a 39-yard touchdown pass to #8 Hayden Mealey and #46 Kaden Bay’s PAT sprang the score to 47 – 0 Tri-Valley.
As Tri-Valley began to substitute players, the Tornadoes were able to hold back a few more plays by the Scotties. However, with just under 10 minutes left in the game #10, Trevor Neibarger snatched a West Muskingum fumble and returned it for a touchdown bringing the score to its final standing of 54-0.
The Scotties take on Maysville for Senior Night Friday, October 26th at Jack Anderson Stadium and they hope to keep their #8 spot in the region 7 computer polls to maintain a spot in the playoffs and Tie with Sheridan for the MVL championship. Go DAWGS!
