Amidst the “Friday Night Lights” at Jack Anderson Stadium on August 31st, the Tri-Valley Scotties showed no signs of slowing down when pitted against the Morgan Raiders. This was evident in the first minute of the game when #4 senior Carson Simpkins bounded over the goal line to make the first touchdown of the game.
Still on a “roll” literally, #24 senior Chase Kendrick recovered a fumble to put the ball back in the hands of the Scotties. On the very next play quarterback Luke Fargus completed a quick pass to wide receiver Blayze Taylor for yet another Tri-Valley touchdown. Bringing the score to 14-0 following the extra point completion. And did I mention this was with 10:42 left in the first quarter of the game.
Blaze Taylor #2 – “Everybody played well tonight, we worked together as a team. We knew Morgan didn’t always have the best team and I think we came out and got things done.”
Tri-Valley continued their drive forward with a series of striking plays and pass completions showing a completely unified front against Morgan. To say that they worked well together as a team would be a total understatement.
Assistant coach Josh Lahmers stated ” I think we came out and we did what we needed to do from the start, we’ve improved each week and we look to improve from this week to next week. That’s all we can ask of our guys”
Quarterback Luke Fargus threw a great pass to #14 – Keaton Williams who ran the ball in for a touchdown and the extra point brought the score to 21-0 Tri-Valley.
#19 Aiden Fritter a quarterback for the Scotties held onto the ball as he blasted into the end zone to bring the score in total to 28-0 after the PAT.
And these plays just kept coming with the Dawgs dominating the field on both sides. Morgan was able to squeeze out their only score of the game just before the end of the half, but not before the Scotties had already racked up another 12 points. They also followed the Morgan touchdown with a quick field goal to end the half 43-6 in Tri-Valley’s favor.
Chase Kendrick – #24 “I thought we played well as a whole entire team, we just came together and came out and played hard”
With the “running clock” rule imposed in the second half, I am sure the rest of the game was just a blur for Morgan that they would rather forget. The blur included a touchdown pass from Fargus to Taylor, an interception by #11 Ben Reiss, a touchdown by #8 Hayden Mealey, a touchdown by #31 Zach Baker, topped off by the final touchdown completed by #34 Luke Hill rounding out the final score 71-6 Tri-Valley.
Garret Miller #62 – “I think we played hard, we knew we were better than them and we just came out and did a good job”
All in all, it was a great showing for the Dawgs and one that I am sure will strike fear into any team they are up against this season when they review the game footage. Great Job Scotties!!
