There was something for everyone Saturday, June 29th at the second annual People’s Choice Car Show in Dresden. It was great to see a busy Main Street with shoppers, car enthusiasts, and families out enjoying the beautiful weather and a wonderful community event.
The Warehouse on Wheels (W.O.W.) food trailer was on site with delicious brisket burgers, pretzel bites, pulled pork and hot dogs as well as cold drinks.
Many of the shops were open including Dresden’s two newest shops New Found Treasures and The Farm Table.
Although there were not as many cars this year, most likely due to possible rain in the forecast earlier in the week, there was still a great turnout.
The Kanawha Valley Corvette Club in Charleston, West Virginia co-hosted the event once again with the Dresden Community Association. Corvette’s were well represented at the show, but there were quite a few other unique, historic, and sleek rides to check out as well.
The event brought some out-of-town guests to Dresden but there were also several locals who entered their cars into the show including Dave Summers who enjoyed the show with his sons. Dave owns a gorgeous blue 1955 Chevy 210 that he has worked on through the years. In high school, Dave originally owned a 1961 in the same color. He purchased the 1955 Chevy 210 in 1979 for just $400.00! The engine has been replaced 3 times. The original was a 265hp engine which has been upgraded to the 327 it has now. It is a never-ending project but it is something that Dave and his oldest son Brian enjoy working on together.
