Tri-Valley Track Facility Named After TVHS Sports Hall Of Fame Track Coach Fred Graham

In the past few years the Tri-Valley track facility has been going through some changes including a resurfacing of the eight-lane oval, a shot put and discus competition area has been erected on the West end of the track, and permanent bleachers have been installed near the common finish line.

It seemed only fitting after making all of the improvements to the track that the facility be dedicated at this time, and who better to dedicate it to than to one of Tri-Valley’s own student turned teacher and coach Fred Graham.

Fred Graham, a 1967 Tri-Valley graduate chose to come back home to teach at his alma mater in 1971 and as it turns out, that teaching career would last an epic 38 years. While teaching, Fred spent his off hours coaching multiple sports over the years in football, basketball, and most of all track. Graham was the boys track and field coach for a total of 32 years and earned a spot in the Tri-Valley Sports Hall Of Fame in 2013.

In his career as the boys track coach, Graham took his team to 12 MVL championship titles and three District titles as well as coaching five All-Ohio track and field student-athletes.

At the August 11th meeting of the Tri-Valley Schools Board of Education, Superintendent Mark Neal and the board voted unanimously to call the facility from that day forth The Fred Graham Track and Field Complex.

In a ceremony prior to Friday, September 2nd’s football game at Jack Anderson Stadium, Tri-Valley Principle John Harris and Scottie Athletic Director Erin Nezbeth presented Graham with a framed print of the TVHS track, officially dedicating the facility.
