John McIntire Library enters new phase as
remodel is underway by Lynette Dotson
The John McIntire Library hosted a
Last Look Party earlier this month to
commemorate the beginning of a new
NEXT DEADLINE chapter in its history. The event allowed
November 25 at 5PM the community to tour the John McIntire
Library, see renderings of the proposed
design, and hear the plans for the new
NEXT ISSUE layout and features that the remodel will
November 29 bring.
Construction is already underway and
is slated to be completed in late Spring
2026. After the project is complete visi-

is reduced from what you had before, it
is still really healthy. There is tons of stuff
to still come down here and check out,
lots of variety. We also have computers,
we have microfilm we are continuing to
offer, as well as copying, scanning, and
printing all of those core services we pro-
vided before.”
The library will continue to host a se-
ries of events during the remodel.
“One of the significant things that will
be offsite is our programming because
there is not a meeting room space, so
all of our programming will be offsite at
one of our branches or at our commu-
nity partners throughout town,” Fennel
added.
The Mini Mac is open Monday through

come down and check it out, it is a really
cozy library and it has its own special
feel and I just really encourage everyone
to come down and check it out while it is
here,” said Fennell.
All five MCLS branches also remain
open. Outreach locations are also open
during set times during the remodel
including the outreach location at The
Colony Square Mall which is only open
on Thursdays from 11 to 6 p.m.
