Have you ever wondered what is
missing in your life? Maybe everything
is going well but it feels like something
is off balance. The eight dimensions of
wellness tell us that physical, emotional,
social, intellectual environmental, spiri-
tual, vocational, and financial health
are all connected to one another and
play into our wellbeing. Today, we are
going to look at spiritual wellness and
ways to practice that to improve our
lives. Spiritual wellness can be defined
as a sense of purpose and meaning in
life, including morals and ethics. It can
sometimes include religious activities
but not always (Northwestern University,
2025). Spirituality can look different for
everyone including the activities that are
comfortable for them as it is not a “one

Dearing. (not pictured Delaney Bell, and Peyton Minner) Submitted Examples of this include yoga, med-
itation, journaling feelings, having a qui-
et moment, or serving the community.
Think about doing things that “fill your
cup” and keep it simple at first. Find-
ing a routine for things that can fill our
cup can be hard when we are balancing
multiple schedules and high expecta-
tions. As you know by now, I am a men-
tal health advocate and firm believer
in balance even though I struggle with
balance myself. Praying or taking part in
religious organizations can be comfort-
ing to many people and helps them stay
connected with their faith. If your faith
organization offers community events,
consider signing up to help or be part
of the planning committee. Mindfulness
throughout this process may be benefi-
cial to help keep yourself grounded and
avoid frustration on this journey. Remind
yourself that spirituality is a process and
is not a linear and to be kind to yourself.
