Dresden Elementary Honors Veterans With Parade and Ceremony

This Veterans Day about 500 Dresden Elementary students and over 200 adults marched from the school down Main Street, then circling back to gather at the Dresden Cemetery for a beautiful ceremony honoring our veterans.

The parade was led by the Dresden Police Department and the American Legion, followed by the Tri-Valley Marching Band and Color Guard. Students from each grade marched alongside their teachers while holding hand-made signs and American flags. Many were shouting “USA” as they happily trooped along. Many Veterans could be spotted marching with the crowds of students and in attendance along the route. The Dresden Fire Department and the organization, “I AM a warrior against suicide”, concluded the parade’s lineup.

After the parade, the attendees and participants converged around the gazebo near the entrance of the Dresden Cemetery for a brief Veterans Day ceremony. Members of the Dresden Elementary Student Council conducted the ceremony which included a guest speaker, 28-year veteran, Lieutenant Colonel Kim Clark.

Both the parade and ceremony were great displays of honor, respect, and patriotism in small-town America.
