Obituary: Victor E. Prouty

Victor E. Prouty, 89, of Dresden, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, December 4, 2022 surrounded by his beloved wife and loving family at home.

Born September 5, 1933 in Zeno, Ohio, he was a son of the late Marion R. and Helen R. (Snack) Prouty and 1951 graduate of Jefferson High School. Victor was a United States Army Veteran and retired after 33 years from AK Steel. He was a member of Northgate Church Dresden for 30 years. Victor was a self-taught musician and enjoyed playing his harmonica and guitar with his brothers Vernon, Lauren, JR and Larry and brother-in-law Dave and grandkids Kyle and LeAnne. Victor and his wife Linda performed at churches, veteran hospitals, nursing homes, dances and church revivals. The two of them sang for several years at the Dresden Church of the Nazarene. Victor also enjoyed inlayed woodworking, carving, painting and vacationing with his wife. He also enjoyed watching westerns, antique cars and eating snickers

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda (Summers) Prouty, whom he married on September 1, 1967; two sons, Rick (Valarie) Prouty of Dresden and Terry Prouty of Lancaster; a daughter in law, Kim Prouty of the home; nine grandchildren, Kyle (Kimberly) Prouty of Dresden, LeAnne (Jason) Dobson of Dresden, Shawn Dingey of Maryland, Lindsey (Adason) Stevens of Dresden, Tristan Prouty of Chillicothe, Tara Prouty of the home, Faith Prouty of Dresden, Hayden Prouty of Chillicothe and Maranda Prouty of Dresden; five great grandchildren, Felicity Dobson, Jameson Prouty, Randy Dobson, Joey Prouty and Adalynn Stevens all of Dresden; three brothers, Max Prouty of Zanesville, Larry (Marylee) Prouty of Dresden and Loren (Loretta) Prouty of Zanesville; a sister, Shirley (Francis) Holzschuher of Dresden; a brother in law, David (Dorothy) Summers of Dresden; his dog Kandi Kisses and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, a son, Randy Prouty; father and mother-in-law, Howard and Mildred Summers; two brothers, Vernon Prouty and Marion Junior Prouty; and a sister, Bonnie Whyde.

Calling hours were 11:00am till time of service at 12:00pm, Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Northgate Church, 10516 Frazeysburg Road, Dresden, OH 43821 with Pastors Mike and Melody Foster officiating.

Victor was laid to rest at Dresden Cemetery, with Military Honors presented by American Legion Post #399.
