Straker Foundation Announces Spring Grants

“This cycle challenged our grants committee more than any previous,” Susan Straker Holdren said of the J.W. & M.H. Straker Charitable Foundation’s 2024 call for grants. An unprecedented number of requests totaled five times the funds allotted. The Foundation was able to fund 37 requests in Muskingum County for a total of just over 1.2 million dollars. Two other awards are pending further details.

  • Amy Totes of Hope; Supplies for chem patients; $10,400.00
  • The Animal Shelter Society, Inc.: generator and repairs in dog kennel area; $107,730.00
  • Bethel Mission, Inc.; Kindergarten Boot Camp; $21,198.76
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Zanesville; office renovation and technology upgrade; $48,701.07
  • The Carr Center; Toddler Program support; $15,000.00
  • City Of Zanesville; Gant Stadium Playground upgrade; $100,000.00
  • Coburn United Methodist Church; Covered walkway project; $15,000.00
  • Dresden Community Association, Inc.; signage and self-guided tour materials; $25,500.00
  • Dresden Elementary Amateur Radio Club; storage units; $1,500.00

  • Forest Mumford American Legion; Ironspot Veterans Memorial Project; $8,200.00
