Arena Cuts brings fresh approach to barbershop experience

Just one step in the door of Clayton Arena’s barbershop, Arena Cuts, and you will quickly realize that you are about to undergo an innovative spin on the classic barbershop experience. The new shop is located at 42 E Main Street in New Concord, across from Scott’s Diner. The timeless modernized black, grey, and white design gives the shop a very cool vibe that is sure to appeal to all generations.

A grand opening for Arena Cuts will take place on Saturday, April 20 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Clayton invites the public to come meet him, see the shop, enjoy refreshments including charcuterie boards, and enter their name for a chance to receive a free haircut.

Clayton grew up in New Concord and is a 2022 graduate of John Glenn High School. He studied at Prince’s Barber Academy in Zanesville where he perfected his craft working alongside certified instructors.

When asked why he chose to open his shop in New Concord Clayton explained, “I wanted to give back to the community in a way that has never been done before.” Clayton wants his clients to feel comfortable enough to talk about anything they have on their minds. “If I can change someone’s perspective on life in 30 minutes, even if they forget everything, at least in that 30 minutes they can be comfortable.”

Arena Cuts goes above and beyond the expected by offering a cut with the option of a complimentary beard shaping complete with a hot towel if they want it for no additional cost. Cut, wash and style rates are $25 for 60 and up and $30 for adults and kids. Other services like facial massage, beard shaping or a shave, eyebrow design and shaping, and professional razor hair art will also be offered. In the future, Clayton plans to add a cosmetologist to offer haircuts to women and children as well.

Clayton chose a modernized design for Arena Cuts, inspired by some Columbus barbershops, to bring a different look to a town that is known for its rich history. The black 3D wall panels, hexagon ceiling lights, and a large hand-painted mural created by artist Cheyann Fehrman of Chey Creative Co, LLC (find her on Instagram @cheycreativeco) are just three features among many finer details that help to pull together the shop’s look.

Clayton’s kind and welcoming personality coupled with his artistic skill and professionalism is what really makes Arena Cuts a cut above the rest.
