Blue Devils baseball looking for some hope in the second half of their season

Zanesville vs Granville (4/15)

Consistent scoring was a big factor in Monday’s road loss against the Blue Aces with the Granville team taking a 10 – 0 lead by the end of the fourth inning.  A two-run fifth inning kept the Blue Devils from getting shut out completely as the Aces took a 12 – 2 win.

Zanesville vs River View (4/13)

Late-inning runs for the Black Bears led to the fall of the Blue Devils during Saturday’s home game against Warsaw.  Zanesville had the total of their runs by the bottom of the six-run third inning to take a 7 – 4 lead over their visitors. They held that lead through the next three scoreless innings, until the top of the seventh inning when River View squeaked by three runs followed by another three in the top of the eighth to take a 10 – 7 win back home to Coshocton County.

Zanesville vs Heath (4/10)

On Wednesday the Bulldogs hosted the Blue Devils in Heath.  The game started off slow with neither team scoring in the first inning, but the shutout at least for the Bulldogs would end in the second inning as they picked up three runs, followed by a series of runs from Heath in every subsequent inning including a four-run sixth inning to end the game 10 – 0.

Zanesville vs Licking Heights (4/9)

The Hornets traveled to Zanesville on Tuesday to battle the Blue Devils.  Zanesville had the upper hand early on with a 1 – 0 lead in the first, followed by a 3 – 1 lead in the second.  The teams were tied up by the bottom of the third inning 5 – 5, but after that, things started to fall apart for the Devils as the Hornets picked up five more runs over the next two innings compared to Zanesville’s 1.  In the end, the Hornet’s lead was too much for Zanesville to level out and they fell 10 – 6.

Zanesville vs Watkins Memorial (4/6)

The Blue Devils took a hard loss on Saturday in Pataskala, as they faced the Watkins Warriors.  From the start, the Warriors jumped out to a 5 – 0 lead in the bottom of the first inning followed by another three runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Zanesville tried to hit their way back in the top of the sixth but only squeezed two runs out of the Warrior’s defense. Watkins came back in the bottom of the inning to wrap up the game after tacking on three more runs leaving the Blue Devils with an 11 – 2 loss.
