Maysville softball team battles while aiming for first win of the season

Maysville vs John Glenn (4/15 – 4/16)

In two games against the John Glenn Lil’ Muskies, the Maysville girls were shut out by the Muskies pitchers.  John Glenn took a 5 – 0 lead right out of the gate in game one and built it into a 14 – 0 win.

Game two went a lot slower for the New Concord team as they started off with a 1 – 0 lead over Maysville, but they didn’t pick up any runs in the second inning and built their way up to a 9 – 0 by the end of the fourth inning just before a big five-run rally to win the game 14 – 0 yet again.

Maysville vs River View (4/9)

The River View Blackbears traveled to “South Town” on Tuesday to face the Panthers. Maysville took a 1 – 0 lead after two innings but the Lady Bears were not going to hold back as they came out swinging in the top of the third inning to tie up the game and grab the go-ahead run with a 2 – 1 lead.  After six innings of battle, the Bears were up 5 – 2 over the Panthers.  The seventh inning saw both teams take huge strides forward as they both rallied for seven runs each, but the damage was done and the Black Bears edged by with an 11 – 8 score.

Maysville vs West Holmes (4/5)

The Knights hosted Maysville on Friday as they took off to a running start taking a 1 – 0 lead in the first inning over the visitors.  Both teams went scoreless in the second inning followed by West Holmes grabbing yet another run in the bottom of the third inning to bump their lead up to 2 – 0.  The Knights put in the final hits in the bottom of the fourth inning when they picked up nine runs for the inning to lock in the 11 – 0 victory.

Maysville vs Sheridan (4/3)

On Wednesday the Panthers hopped over to Thornville to take on the Generals on their home field.  Sheridan took a 1 – 0 lead in the first inning but Maysville’s batting lineup took to task in the top of the second inning with a 5-run rally to take a 5 – 1 lead only to be tied up in the bottom of the inning by the Generals. After shutting out the Panthers in the third inning Sheridan ran a huge 19-run rally to fly out to a 24 – 5 lead.  Maysville tried to recover but they were shut out again in the fifth inning while the Generals added two more runs to their tally to end the game scoring with a 26 – 5 win.
