The Fighting Muskies baseball team split a pair of doubleheaders before falling to Baldwin Wallace

Muskingum vs Baldwin Wallace doubleheader (4/14)

Muskingum University hosted the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets on Sunday for a doubleheader.  In game one the Muskies grabbed a 2 – 0 lead in the opening innings until the top of the fourth inning when the Yellow Jackets took the lead 4 – 2.  The Jackets built their lead up to 9 – 3 by the top of the ninth inning and Muskingum just couldn’t recover.

In the second game, BW took a 2 – 1 lead right out of the gate and never looked back.  The Muskies managed to get a run in almost every other inning, but in the end the Yellow Jackets swept the doubleheader and took game two 13 – 5.

Muskingum vs Capital doubleheader (4/09)

In game one on Tuesday against Capital The Comets took the early 4 – 0 lead by the top of the fourth inning leaving Muskingum to play catchup which they tried to do, it just happened a little too late as they grabbed their only run for the game in the bottom of the ninth inning.  The Comets took game one with a score of 13 – 1.

The Comets got the jump start on game two as well with a 1 – 0 lead in the top of the third inning and building that lead to 2 – 0 by the top of the fifth inning.  This time however, the Muskies pulled out their bats in the ninth inning starting with a homer to left-center by Melick cut the Comet’s lead to 1, but following that play the Eurez brothers both made it across the plate on a single hit by Duchesne to win the game 3 – 2 and split the doubleheader.

Muskingum vs Ohio Northern doubleheader (04/07)

The Fighting Muskies made the trip to Ohio Northern on Sunday for a doubleheader against the Polar Bears.  In game one, the Bears didn’t waste time showing their cards as they took a 7 – 0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.  The Muskies tried several times to get some runs going but stalled out and the ONU took the first game 7 – 0.

The Muskies turned the tables in game two taking a 3 – 0 lead in the opening inning and holding that lead until the fourth quarter when they picked up two more runs setting their lead to 5 – 1.  Muskingum picked up a run for each of the next two innings and ONU added one more run to their tally but it would be their last for the game and the Fighting Muskies split the doubleheader with the Polar Bears taking game two with a score of 8 – 2.
