Patriot Companies helps Tri-Valley Youth League Baseball kick off season with massive 69-foot American flag

A 69-foot American Flag was on display for Tri-Valley Youth League Baseball’s opening day at Kenny Wolford Park thanks to the generosity of Patriot Companies.

“Honestly, it kinda teared me up a little bit to see all of our youth standing at attention during the national anthem with their hands on their hearts and their hats off, I was in the crane operating it, but I could still see it, it was a pretty cool thing!” President of Patriot Companies, JP Marshall, explained. “It just shows that here in Zanesville and Dresden and our small-town community that we still have the value and ethics which this country was built upon and that’s very encouraging!”

The massive hand-stitched Garrison flag was suspended using Patriot’s Linkbelt HTT 8690. The flag weighed 210 pounds but with wind gusts of 40 to 50 miles an hour the 3,000 to 3,500 pounds of pressure the rig was holding instantly shot up to 5,900lbs of force.

“We had climbing ropes attached to the bottom of the flag used for climbing and it actually shattered the ropes. There was that much force. So after a couple of hours, we ended up laying it down, I sent one of my guys to the store to get an 80 x 80 tarp and a bunch of volunteers came over and helped us lay it down on the tarp so it didn’t touch the ground. And then we folded it up and put in back in the container and packed everything up.”

The same flag was used during a few stops on former President Donald Trump’s 2019 campaign.

“They contacted us, and I paid for everything, for the crane and the service truck and several operators to follow him around to a couple of rallies,” said Marshall.

The flag will be displayed by Patriot Companies at the upcoming Summer Concert Series that will be held in the Secrest Auditorium parking lot over the summer. The event will kick off with “Big Bad Stache” performing rock, pop and blues music on May 23rd at 6:30 p.m. Patriot is one of the sponsors for the 2024 concerts.

At Patriot Companies they stand by their motto… “Liberty – Community – God” with donations totaling $144,000 last year to various organizations and projects to better the community. The amount of pride the company has for the area is evident by their generosity.

The company will also be donating a 60-foot custom-fabricated flagpole that will soon be installed at Kenny Wolford Park’s entrance.
