Coshocton Cherokees stay ahead of the count 4 – 3 during a tough schedule

Vs. Utica Post 92 SR 18O (6/12)

Post 92 hosted the Cherokees on Friday. After a quick 1 – 0 lead from Coshocton in the top of the first inning, Utica blasted out ten runs, starting off with a three-run homer, followed by a two-run homer, 10 – 1. The second inning went by without a run from either team, but at the bottom of the third, Utica went back to work, slamming out 12 more runs, 22 – 1. The Cherokees grabbed another run in the top of the fourth, but they fell to Utica 22 – 2.

The Cherokees face the Summer Legion Post 68 on Tuesday, June 16th, at 6 PM. 

Vs. Columbus Knights 18U (6/12)

The Cherokees hosted the Columbus Knights on Friday. Columbus scored a run in the top of the first inning, but Coshocton answered back with three runs to lead 3 – 1 at the end of the first. The Knights tied up the score at the top of the third inning and jumped ahead by two, 5 – 3, before Coshocton came back in the bottom of the inning to make it even, 5 – 5. At the bottom of the fourth, the Cherokees jumped out ahead again by two runs, 7 – 5. The Knights answered back this time at the top of the fifth with two runs, 7 – 7. Coshocton squeezed out a single run in the bottom of the inning to nudge the decision in their favor, 8 – 7, but Columbus grabbed two more in the top of the next inning to tie and then lead 9 – 8. Matching the visitors, the Cherokees landed two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game and then grab the walk-off winning run, 10 – 9.

Vs. Summer Legion Post 68 (6/9)

Tuesday at Coshocton, the Cherokees outpitched the Summer Legion, thanks to the hard work of Cooper George, who pitched five innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 4 strikeouts, and 2 walks in the game. 

Coshocton took the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the second inning, 2 – 0, and added their third and final run in the bottom of the third, 3 – 0. Summer Legion landed two runs in the top of the fifth inning, but that was as far as they got, falling to Coshocton 3 – 2.
