Vs. New Philadelphia Jr Legion Post 139 (6/21)

On the road in Tuscarawas County, the Jr Legion headed off to play the Black Sox in a Father’s Day doubleheader. In game one, Zanesville jumped out to a quick lead when C Wilson scored on an error to put them up 1 – 0. The Black Sox were not going to stay down as they pumped out four runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead 4 – 1. Despite having a run in each of the next three innings, the Post 29 Jr. Legion couldn’t hold back the Black Sox as they amassed a 14 – 4 win in the first game.

Game two started off slow, with no score in the first inning. Zanesville’s Brownrigg scored on a sacrifice fly by Chema to go 1 – 0. New Phila answered back with three runs in the bottom of the inning, 3 – 1. By the end of the fifth inning, the Black Sox were up 7 – 1. It looked like the Juniors would mount a rally in the top of the seventh, but they were cut short at two runs and fell 7 – 3.

Vs. Hanover Post 764 (6/19)

When Zanesville visited Hanover on Friday, Weston Warden made quick work of the first three batters with two strikeouts and a groundout to put the Juniors at the plate. From there, Zanesville jumped on the board with four runs to lead 4 – 0. Warden threw three straight strikeouts in the top of the second and gave up his only two runs in the top of the third while the Juniors built their lead to 7 – 2.  Hanover’s pitching struggled in the bottom of the fourth, allowing Zanesville to capitalize and grab 13 runs to take a mercy win 20 – 2 after five innings.
