Volunteers, donors, and the City of Coshocton, with the help of The Coshocton Pickleball Club and Kid’s America combined their efforts to expand Coshocton City Recreation Park’s pickleball courts, adding six new courts to the four that were already there. The growing number of pickleball players and the frequent use of the existing courts sparked the expansion.
A grand opening and ribbon cutting was held to dedicate the new courts on Friday, June 26. Coshocton Pickleball Club president Kathy Bryan made a few opening remarks before initiating the ribbon cutting ceremony.
“Your generosity, vision, and commitment to improving Coshocton have created a place where families and friends can come here and play together for generations, and they can have fitness and fellowship all together,” Bryan said to those in attendance at the grand opening. “My prayer is that this court will be a blessing to this community for generations, generations, and generations. And that when we play on here, everyone will have a good time, have joy, share love, and have grace and just enjoy playing.”
The courts are open to the public at no charge. The park is located next to Kid’s America, on Otsego Avenue, near the baseball fields. The City Recreation Park is the city of Coshocton’s largest park, offering five ball fields, a soccer field, walking paths, a picnic area and shelter, a dog park, and a catch and release pond, besides the now ten pickleball courts.
Kid’s America also has indoor pickleball courts that are open to members and guests. A day pass is $8, and various memberships are also available. The indoor recreation complex has a track, soccer fields, basketball/volleyball/pickleball courts, a batting cage, a weight room, and cardio equipment.
