Cheyenne Matz to continue Studio Blu’s 23-year legacy

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Zanesville Studio Blu, 3931 Northpointe Dr, Zanesville, on Monday, March 31. Each year, the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber hosts numerous ribbon cutting ceremonies to celebrate new businesses and business growth in the county. This particular one was extra special for Chamber President Dana Matz because his daughter, Cheyenne Matz, cut the ribbon as the new owner of the established salon and spa.

At the start of the ceremony, Dana shared how Cheyenne has wanted to be a stylist from a young age and started on her journey as a student at the Mid-East Career Center. “She went to State Skills USA and was a silver medalist and is now a Hall of Famer at Mid-East,” he stated proudly before continuing by thanking the previous owners. “Thank you to the Cover and the Baker family for all that you did to help prepare her for this. And from her mother and I, her daughter, our family and friends, we say congratulations!”

Traci Baker and Connie Cover first opened the business 23 years ago and have built a team of eleven stylists and techs that included Cheyenne, who had worked there for eight of her sixteen years in the industry.

“It [owning a salon] has always been a dream of mine; it has always been a goal,” said Cheyenne. “When the opportunity presented itself, I knew right then and there [that it was time]. – I want to thank Connie and Traci for this opportunity, along with family, friends, the community, and my teammates, because without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” said Cheyenne.
