Country Crossroads Education of Yesterday hosts 19th annual Farm Show

It’s that time of the year again! The Country Crossroads Education of Yesterday Farm Show has been educating local youth and families about how farming was done in the past for nearly two decades. This year’s show will be held on Saturday, October 21st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, October 22nd from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3685 Cass Irish Ridge Road, Dresden (intersections of SR 16 & 60).

The Moore family including siblings Kendra Moore-Hindel and Jeff Moore have continued the event that was their father, the late Kenny Moore Jr.’s vision. He had a passion for teaching area youth about farming and loved tractors, trains, and old equipment.

“The community amazes me on their continued support and we are blessed to continue our father’s dream and visions. 19 years strong. Next year will be our 20th annual farm show and hopefully my nieces and nephews will continue on in their grandfather’s dream,” explained Hindel.

Kids operate diggers during last year’s Education of Yesterday Farm Show.

There is so much fun to be had at the Education of Yesterday Farm Show. The Captain Bryant Grist Mill will be open with a large farm toy display on the second and third floors, live equipment demonstrations will be held (weather permitting), tractors, trucks, and equipment will be on display throughout the grounds, kids are invited to participate in activities throughout the day, food and craft vendors will be on-site, and musical entertainment is planned each evening. There will once again be train rides on the “Cracker Jack Railroad” around the track that encircles the Mill, or kids can enjoy a barrel ride pulled by “Lil’ Toot” the train, additionally, kids have the unique opportunity to operate a real digger with supervision, all are just $1 each. Since it is a working farm show there is always something happening and equipment is always on the move!

There are a few additions to this year’s event including a concert by Bryan Lewis (additional donation required), local blacksmith Jim Curry will be hard at work during the event, and Education of Yesterday will host the 4th Gathering of the Eastern Ohio Gravely Club.

Most of the festivities will be taking place throughout both days of the show, but there are a few set times for some of the special events that are taking place within the farm show. These include; a pre-event Garden Tractor Rally at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening, Pedal Tractor Pull for the kids hosted by Tri-Valley Young Farmers on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., dinner and live music by Bryan Lewis at 5:30 p.m. for an additional donation, and on Sunday at 1:30 enjoy music by the Co-Mus Hills String Pickers.
