Hot Air Balloon Festival soared into Coshocton

COSHOCTON, Ohio — Many of us have fond memories and many photos gathered throughout the years of the Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival. It has become a summer tradition that spans multiple generations and is one of the longest-running festivals of its kind in the state.

This year, the three-day event was held June 4 through 6, 2026, at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds.

For over 40 years, balloon pilots have been able to dazzle spectators with demonstrations like balloon launches, tethered balloon rides, and the highly anticipated Night Glow. The festival also incorporates rides, food, vendors, fireworks, and live music to provide additional fun for the family-friendly event.

Live music for this year’s festival included Seventy80 and Victorious KayBirds.

During the festival’s kick-off, the committee chairman for the event, Phil Linne, got to fly in celebration of his 80th+ birthday. Additionally, over 100 people enjoyed the tethered rides.

Around 20 pilots brought their balloons to the festival this year. Some of the balloon-related events did not happen as planned due to weather conditions. But thanks to the pilots being willing to pivot, events like the Night Glow could still be held just in a different way. For the Night Glow, the Touchstone Energy Cooperative balloon had the equipment necessary to keep it safely tethered during the glow, while others put on a candlestick glow. The heat could be felt from the stands, and the display still made for some beautiful photos and a captivating show.

Save the date for next year’s festival, scheduled for June 10-12, 2027, the second weekend after Memorial Day. Admission and parking for the balloon festival are completely free, making it a popular summer event that can be enjoyed by all.
