The John McIntire Library and each of the five Muskingum County Library System branches celebrated the beginning of summer reading in a big way. This year’s theme, “Unearth a Story”, was embraced by all locations as each was decorated for the occasion. A T. Rex visited the Dresden Branch, and life-size dinosaur footprints were placed on the floor of the Duncan Falls/Philo Branch. Activities, games, and story times were all part of the fun. Many summer readers were able to sign up in person for the Summer Reading Challenge that runs through July.
It is not too late to register for Summer Reading. All ages are welcome to sign up either in person, online by visiting muskingumlibrary.org/summerreading2026, or by using the Beanstack app.
How does summer reading work? After signing up, read to rack up minutes that you then log into the Beanstack app or track them on paper. As you reach certain milestones along your summer reading journey, you will earn raffle tickets that can then be put towards any of the grand prizes offered, like book sets, a Riesbeck’s gift card, Nintendo Switch Lite, Escape Room passes, a Toniebox, Dilion State Park cabin stay and excursion, a two lane party at Sunrise Bowling Center, and more.
