Pioneers hit three straight wins after downing Zanesville Senior Legion

In a game at Gant Municipal Stadium on Tuesday, June 2nd, the Senior Pioneers faced off against the Zanesville Post 29 Sr. Legion. The game went on for five scoreless innings as both defenses were doing their jobs, with Landon Harney pulling off five innings with 0 runs on 5 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts for the Senior Pioneers. 

At the top of the sixth inning, Steve Malenda grounded out to third base, allowing Brandon Pritchard to score the first run of the game for the Pioneers. J Neff scored shortly after, just before the final out of the inning, putting the Pioneers up 2 – 0 against Post 29 Senior Legion.

Harney pitched a one, two, three inning to put the Pioneers back at bat. At the top of the seventh inning, Rashid Sesay scored on an error to cap the Pioneers’ scoring at three runs, 3 – 0. 

In the bottom of the seventh, Q Warden scored on a play just before J McBride’s double to grab a run, but the Legion was shut down before they could tie the game and fell to the Pioneers 3 – 1.

The Senior Pioneers will be back in action at Gant Stadium on Saturday, June 20th, as they take on the Arlington Tigers; the first pitch is set for 7 PM.
