Senior Pioneers took down Arlington Tigers in late inning run recovery

On Saturday at Gant Stadium, the Pioneers faced the Arlington Tigers. Right from the start, the visitors put the Pioneers to work, earning a 2 – 0 lead. Zanesville answered back in the bottom of the inning to tie up the game, 2 – 2. The tie held until the fourth inning when the Tigers grabbed two more runs to once again take the lead, 4 – 2. In the bottom of the sixth, the Pioneers rallied for five runs, which contributed to their final 8 – 4 victory.

For the Pioneers, Brandon Bush started on the mound and pitched for three innings, with 2 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Landon Harney earned the win for the Pioneers with three innings pitched, 1 hit, 2 runs, and 6 strikeouts. Andy Hardy pitched one inning with 2 hits, 1 run, and 1 strikeout. Chase Phillips pitched two innings with 1 hit and 6 strikeouts. Steve Malenda led the offense for the Pioneers, going 2-4 with one run and 3 RBIs. Jeramie Neff went 2-3 with 2 runs and 1 RBI. Chase Phillips went 2-2. Ethan McClellan went 1-4 with 1 run and 1 RBI. Tanner Corder went 2-3 and was hit by a pitch. Rashid SeSay went 1-3 with a run. Wes Carder went 1-4 with a run. Brad Barclay scored 2 runs and a sacrifice bunt. Robbie Warn had a sacrifice fly RBI in the 6th inning.
