West Muskingum has been revving along as they pick off each team on their schedule headed into the playoffs including their first playoff round leading to their 10 – 1 overall record.
West M vs Meadowbrook (10/20)
Under the Friday night lights in West Muskingum the Tornadoes were not showing any signs of slowing down, they plowed through the Colts defense as they have been doing for the whole season as Rashid Sesay picked up a 7-yard touchdown with 5:30 left in the first quarter to start off the scoring at 7 – 0 after the kick.
Just mere seconds later Sesay grabbed an interception out of the air as he continued to punish the Colts with a 35-yard return for gold to make West Muskingum’s lead 14 – 0 with 5:14 left in the first quarter.
Sesay landed one more 31-yard touchdown before the end of the first quarter stunning the Colts with 21 – 0 lead heading into the second quarter.
The second quarter brought about a 76-yard touchdown on a quarterback keeper by Jake Anton to set the lead at 28 – 0 after the PAT.
With 6:02 left in the half Anton found Carter Smith in the End Zone for a 16-yard touchdown pass for an almost unsurmountable 35 – 0 lead before Sesay setup a pass to Keegan Carns for an 11-yard touchdown to end the half and send Meadowbrook to the locker room with a 42 – 0 deficit.
After the half Carter Winland ran in a short-yard touchdown to finalize the Tornadoes score at 49 points after the kick.
During the fourth quarter the Colts tried to build a comeback while playing against West Muskingum’s second string but were only able to grab 10 points and the Colts galloped home with a 49 – 10 loss.
West M vs Union Local (10/27)
To open the playoffs for West Muskingum the Tornadoes were host to the Union Local Jets from Belmont, Ohio.
With just four minutes to go in the first quarter Wes Houston ran a 7-yard touchdown for the Tornadoes and lit the scoreboard with a 7 point lead after the PAT.
Union local was able to tie up the score in the second quarter as Landen Woods threw a 27-yard pass to Josef Bailey for a touchdown followed by the extra point kick.
Rashid Sesay grabbed a 21-yard rushing touchdown with just 8 minutes left in the half to take back the lead at 14 – 7.
West Muskingum landed another touchdown with just five minutes left in the half to set the lead at 21 – 7.
Union Local answered back with just a minute left until halftime to narrow the gap to 21 – 14 after a 37-yard pass from Landen Woods to Josef Bailey.
Midway through the third quarter the Tornadoes rushed in for another touchdown setting the score to 28 – 14.
Two minutes later the Jets answered back with a 19-yard touchdown pass from Woods to Josef Bailey but they missed the PAT so the score was held at West M 28 – Jets 20.
Sesay struck again with a short touchdown with just 2 minutes left in the third to bolster West Muskingum’s lead to 35 – 20 after the extra point kick to end scoring for the third quarter.
Three minutes into the fourth quarter the Jets’ Landen Woods completed a 22-yard pass to Gannon Kerns for a touchdown, but again they missed the PAT, West M 35 – Jets 26.
Rashid could not let the game end without making one more rushing touchdown and finishing off scoring for the game at 42 – 26.
West Muskingum moves on to face the Harvest Prep Warriors on Friday, November 3rd, in Canal Winchester. Gametime is set for 7pm.
